Crossroads
On
a mid-October day
I
found your gaze
Inviting
me to see
What
could be
Now
it’s mid-July
And
your picture adorns my wall
Reminding
me of this present place
I
am here and-
You
are afar off
Oh,
what could have been
Then
he directed me in
Watching
my every move
Surprising
me with
What
could be
Standing
at the crossroads
My
heart dreams
Of
what could be
Waiting
for a sign
That
will lead me
Down
the road marked
What
is to come
Standing
on this road
Is
the one
That
could be, would be
And
will be
*This poem has a twofold meaning. You can take it literally like waiting for a man or a woman for most people desire a spouse. However, it is also an analogy of Christ. He captures the attention of many before they realize that he is more than a picture on a wall, more than an idea, more real and close than they can imagine. And then He begins to show up in greater measures and they begin to realize He's near. God is the one standing on the path saying I am the answer to everything if only you will come. It's an invitation to salvation and an invitation to dream.
